SITE INTERVIEWS
Depending on the scale of the survey, it is important to look at the surrounding area and assess them for likely home ranges, roost or nest sites. Landowner / neighbour interviews can be extremely useful when recording real time data and evidence of Barn Owl activity. It is however extremely important that the questioning techniques utilised are effective and the subsequent assessment of the information should be thorough and conclusive - It is easy to mis-identify between owl species if you are not experienced and therefore open questioning should also be accompanied with identification aids such as images or sounds of the relevant species for comparison.
